Many things in life can change a man. War, heartache, success. Some people welcome change while others resist it with every fiber of their being. However, at the end of the day, change will happen. The question is, what will you do with it?
I am not avert to the idea of change, in fact I embrace the shifting of tides as a concept. When it comes time to take movement within the alterations, however, the discomfort creeps in. I have experienced many storms this year. Most have brought me joy yet others choose to stir up pain. Regardless, I have found myself farther ahead than I was before the rain fell. I moved inside the zone, I stayed hands-up in the ring, I advanced. And yes, I came through the other side with a few extra scars, but those scars are souvenirs that make me who I am today.
I stand here today, a broken man, stronger and more lethal than yesterday. My tenacity does not make me better than the next person, but it has been a choice I made day in and day out to hit life harder than life hits me.
So when the next opportunity comes your way, laced with fear and unknown, step into it with all you have. Your brief time on this rock we call home will change you. Learn to thrive in that chaos. Allow yourself the freedom to dictate how life changes you. Maintain an open mind and a resilient heart. It is in these virtues that you will find yourself moving forward.
